Summer Philippine Classes


Philippine American Association of Middle Tennessee presents the Summer Education Program. The first of these programs will feature cultural enrichment regarding the Filipino culture.

Open enrollment for Summer Philippine Class, class is limited to 20 students. Acceptance is for first come first serve basis. This is a free class.

  • Summer Philippine Class July 14th – August 25th, 1012
  • 9:00 am – 1:00 pm (15 min break at 11:00 am) Cafeteria, St. Joseph Catholic Church
  • Parents are asked to bring drinks, snacks are optional.

Introduction:
This brief course will give an opportunity to each participant to develop awareness and appreciation of their Filipino cultural heritage. Most participants are second generation Filipino and have been living here in the United States since birth. This brief course will offer a glimpse of the Filipino culture, history and language.

Objective:
At the end of this course, participants should be able to appreciate and understand the Filipino culture, different languages and its history.

Course Description:
Teaching will be focused on the following major topics about the Philippines.

  • July 14th & 21st Cultures
  • July 28th & August 4th Languages
  • August 11th & August 18th History
  • August 25th Review

Requirements:
1) Active participation in class discussions/activities
2) Punctuality
3) Attendance
4) Atmosphere of mutual respect
5) Parents commitment

Class Schedule:
Classes will be conducted every Saturday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, July 7th – August 25th. There will be a 15 minute break half way thru each class. Snacks will be provided.
