A Message From the President



First, let me congratulate the graduating class of 2012. On behalf of Philippine-American Association of middle Tennessee, we wish you all happy and safe vacation and best wishes on your chosen career.
Birthday greetings to Cherry Limbawan, Virgie Calderon and Daisy Sator , They all celebrated their birthday in May. If you know of anybody else celebrating their birthday and/or wedding anniversary or other occasions, please let us know.
Thank you for those who attended the Columna baby shower held at KOI. They just moved to Nashville and what we did for them was a warm welcome for them and for their baby.
A couple weeks ago, we had a fund raising dinner for our good friend Dennis Hailey. As expected, we had a good turnout. We have collected about $1400.00 and some were sent to them directly. This only shows the solidarity spirit among our members in time of need. Again, thank you all.
May 24th & 25th, we are going to participate at Asian Pacific Islander Celebration,  VA hospital at both Nashville and Murfreesboro locations. PAAMT will provide the exhibits and Fashion show,  Murfreesboro and Columbia Phil-Am will provide the entertainment. At the celebration, Philippines will be the featured country. The celebration is open to the public. You are all invited to come.
June 2nd, Phil-Am will co-sponsor the International Friendship Dinner at St. Stephen International Ministry. Marylou Go is the team leader for the Philippine table, Cecile Dy will do the China and Warrant Tiller will do the American table.  This is just a social event, getting the different nationalities in the parish enjoying the evening with different cuisines. Other countries participating are Cuba, Italy, Iran/Iraq, Israel/Palestine, Poland and India. Make your reservation now, seating are limited.
June – July, we are going to have, for the first time, summer classes for our teens (anybody up to high school age). Classes on Philippine History, Cultures, Traditions, Geography and language will start on June 9th – July 9th, 9 am – 12 noon. Classes are tentatively at St. Stephen, Old Chapel. For registration call Ana Arnone, 615-469-5798 or Albert Go, 615-275-8805. This program is being implemented for the purpose of getting our teens learns more some basic knowledge about our country. I hope you will all take advantage of this opportunity.
Social events for our youth (up to high school age ) and seniors (65 and older)  are in the planning stage, we want to hear from you, we do not want to miss anybody when the social events are finalize and the announcements are made. Call Rouella at 615-945-0355.
Our cultural committee is forming the following groups: folk dance group, musical group and fashion models featuring Philippine costumes. Interested, call Marylou at 615-553-2299. Meetings and practice dates and time will be based on the availability of the volunteers.

Announcements
As we approach summer, we are in planning stage for programs and social events for our youth and senior citizens. Before we can implement these programs, we need to have to know all seniors and telephone numbers.

Please e-mail us contact info (names and phone numbers) of  all youth of high school age as well as those seniors 65 years and older to albertlou(at)comcast.net.

This summer, we are going to sponsor classes about the Philippines featuing: HISTORY, GEOGRAPHY, CULTURES, TRADITIONS AND LANGUAGE. Classes will begin June 9th thru July 9th, Saturday, 9:00 am to 11:00 am with a 15 minute break and refreshments will be provided at no charge to all attendees.

Cultural committee is presently forming the following cultural groups: We are looking for volunteers, youth and adults for folk dancing, models for fashion showsm exhibitors and singers for our folk choir.
